What we catch

  • The Thai page is machine-translated.

A Thai reader can tell within a sentence. Translation by a native professional, checked in place on real phones, costs less than the customers it would lose.

  • The only way in is an email address.

Customers in the region message first: LINE in Thailand, WhatsApp in Indonesia and Malaysia, Zalo in Vietnam, Messenger in the Philippines. Meet them there.

  • It takes six seconds to load in Jakarta.

A site hosted in Europe, with full-size photographs, feels slow in Asia. We host close to your customers and keep every page light.

  • Prices are in dollars, or nowhere.

Show prices in the local currency and let people pay the way they already do: PromptPay, QRIS, PayNow, GCash or a card.

  • Google Maps shows last year’s address.

Your Business Profile is often seen before your website. We set it up to match the site, in every language you use.

  • The form asks for a passport scan.

Data protection laws now apply across the region. Ask for what the first conversation needs, and nothing more.

  • Google shows the wrong language.

Without hreflang, Thai readers land on English pages and the reverse. We set it up properly and check it after launch.

How it runs

You work directly with the person doing the thinking and the building, inside your working day.

  1. A conversation

A call at a time that suits you, about your business, your customers and what is not working. No pitch deck.

  2. A written scope

Pages, languages, integrations, timeline and a fixed price in your currency. Including what is not included.

  3. Built in the open

A staging site you can see from the first weeks, a shared project log and decisions written down after every call.

  4. Launch, then look after

Checks across devices, markets and languages, a documented handover and an optional care plan.

The founder

Most agencies treat the details as finishing touches. In this region, the details are the website.

Questions

Why “The Devil’s Dev”?

Because the devil is in the detail. The studio exists for the details other agencies miss: Thai line heights, hreflang tags, the pre-filled WhatsApp message, the third field on a booking form. It is also a reminder to play devil’s advocate before anything ships.

Who is behind the studio?

Chris, a British designer and developer with more than two decades of experience across websites, search, commerce, multilingual platforms and custom software. You work with him directly, with trusted specialists where a project needs them.

We only serve English speakers. Is that enough?

Often, yes. Many of the region’s best businesses serve an international clientele, and an outstanding English site is the whole job. We will tell you honestly if a second language would earn its keep.

Where are you based?

Chris divides his time between the UK and Thailand and keeps Bangkok hours (GMT+7): the same time as Thailand, Vietnam and Jakarta, and one hour behind Bali, Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Manila. The studio is remote and claims no offices.

How do projects start?

With a conversation about your business, your customers and what is not working. We follow up with a written scope and price before any work begins.

Next step

Send a short note about your business, your customers and what needs to change. You will get a considered, written reply within one working day, on Bangkok time.
